All the homes in the subdivision were built around 2006. They're very inexpensive homes so I am afraid I am going to buy it and realize there are tons of shortcuts. I am not sure what they might be - maybe poor insulation? A crappy water heater? Foundation problems? What should I keep an eye out for? Will the inspector my mortgage company requires point out this sort of thing?

We had both the appraiser and an inspector come out before purchasing our home. We worked out to have repairs made by the seller and everything passed their standards. Now that we are in the house the cracks that we were told by all three (the seller, the appraiser and the inspector) are leftover from a previous foundation repair and are actually issues with the foundation (we have had three companies come out to verify and all say that there are no signs of previous repair). We are trying to figure out how to approach this.
