QUESTION BIG COMMUNITY GUIDELINES
Last Modified: August 1, 2015
Our goal is to provide a valuable and enjoyable service through which users can share and discover information. Here are a few basic principles we’ve put together so everyone can get the most out of their experience on Question Big:
Be Good and Play Nicely
Question Big is only provided for lawful purposes and not for engaging in or promoting illegal activity. Also, don’t do things that would harm our website or make it less enjoyable for others. If you can’t be polite and helpful, don’t contribute. If you disagree with an answer on our site, state your case and don’t be rude.
Be Helpful and Honest
People come to this site looking for answers. Others want to lend their expertise. This community exists to serve these two groups so that they can share knowledge and build trust. Don’t mislead people with bad information.
The Conversations Belong to the Community
We want this to be a place where individuals learn how to make smart consumer choices. This happens when other consumers and industry professionals share information, recommendations, and experiences. Our platform happens to be built around questions and answers, but we expect conversations can grow through comments. If you spot something you think doesn’t belong, please report it to us.
Share Your Expertise
Enhanced presence will be the reward if you contribute to our community in a selfless manner. If you’re an industry professional, that in turn should lead to new business from consumers who have gained trust in you. We don’t hide who you are. Instead, we connect our members to your website, blog, social media accounts, and company profile. We make it easy for them to find you.
Control Your Self-promotion
If you join Question Big as a definitive subject matter expert, the community will embrace you as long as you are helpful. The best answers will rise to the top and you’ll get the exposure you crave. If you constantly tell our community that you’re the greatest and that your website rocks, we’ll ask you to tone it down.
Stay on Topic
Our online community is where consumers and industry professionals can connect to share knowledge. Our topics are focused on large purchases, such as those related to homeownership. If you stray off the subject and start asking where to find good sushi, don’t be surprised if your question or your account disappears.
Use Your Own Words
Just because you found something on the web doesn’t mean you can copy it or pass it off as your own. People work hard to create original things. If you want to take credit for something, create it yourself. Don’t steal.
Don’t Be Abusive
Everyone hates spam. Don’t create misleading questions, descriptions, tags, answers, comments, or other content to increase views. Don’t post ads. Don’t use our site as a linking scheme to other websites. It's not okay to post large amounts of untargeted, unwanted or repetitive content.
Don’t Be a Troll
A troll is a community member who posts irrelevant comments or argues a point just to get a rise out of others. Don’t feed them. Don’t talk to them. Ignore them and maybe they’ll go away. Feel free to report them to us and we’ll make things right.
Please take these rules seriously and take them to heart. Don't try to look for loopholes or try to lawyer your way around the guidelines—just understand them and try to respect the spirit in which they were created. Question Big has a real staff of human beings that review content that gets reported. This can includes questions, answers, comments, and profiles, but pretty much covers everything else on our site. Anything that we feel violates our Community Guidelines will be removed. Accounts are penalized for these violations and serious or repeated violations can lead to account termination. If your account is terminated, you won’t be allowed to create any new accounts.
